Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now

I've been using this netbook for over twenty days now and I have no complaints whatsoever. The dimensions are perfect in my opinion. Eventhough the touch pad is rather small I still think it's fine; however, getting a bluetooth mouse could help if you don't get used to working with the pad.
Very light weight but strongly built at the same time.
If you travel often this will possibly be the best computer you can get.
Excellent battery life.
Overall I strongly recommend it versus existing comparable products.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now

I've had this netbook for about a week now and have been on it constantly. It looks great and performs wonderfully. It is super quiet, lightweight, sturdy, and very quick. The rumors about the battery life are true..it gets about 6 to 8 hours depending on how you use it and what settings you have on it. Keyboard was easy transition and mouse pad was not very difficult to get use to. Speakers work great, especially for a netbook. Webcam functions perfectly also. I've watched plenty of movies, listened to lots of music, web surfed hours on end with no problems what so ever. The blue glossy finish on the top hasn't been much of a problem, since I left the plastic protective cover on it. Waiting for a skin to come out.. My NC10 does, however, have the two faint blotches that every one seems to be talking about. They are so faint, that I never realized I had them until I read about them and looked for them very closely. They are not bothersome and can't be noticed unless you stare hard at them on a completely white screen. If Samsung can have these problems resolved I will send it back. But if not, I can definitely live with them. You have been warned. Other than that, this Samsung netbook is perfect. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Lowest Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

As an original eee 2G Surf owner, I found that the only people getting any use out of it were my daughter and her friends, mainly because my fingers were too big to type effectively. When she got her own laptop, I sold off the eee and did a LOT of research. Two netbooks seemed to be at the top of the heap for what I wanted: a machine I could type on effectively, a machine with a large, bright screen, and a machine as nicely designed as the eee. Those two were the HP Mini 1000 and the Samsung NC-10.

After some serious thought, I decided on the NC-10 due to the superior battery life, and what I felt to be slightly stronger reviews from a variety of sites.

I'm sure glad I did! The NC10 is a great little computer marred by only a couple flaws. First of all, I can actually touch-type on the keyboard. This alone justifies purchasing a slightly larger netbook. As with all small keyboards, there is some adjustment to be made; probably my biggest beef is the decision to make Home and End into function-enabled keystrokes. Additionally, the slightly smaller Enter key means that at first I ended up typing an apostrophe instead until my fingers got used to the placement.

Samsung has loaded the NC10 with a lot of software, some of which is not that useful or necessary. However, the Instant Recovery software is a great addition to the netbook. The eee can be restored instantly to factory default settings by hitting F2 as it boots. This is a very handy utility to have, and with the recovery software, Windows users have a built in ability to mimic that functionality. With a 160GB hard drive on a machine I don't plan to use as a data storage device, partitioning the drive into two means that I can use the backup software to set up restore points that are written as disk images on the second partition in case something bad happens.

So once I had the NC10 tweaked to my liking with all my custom software installs and uninstalls, I just made a complete backup of the C: drive. As we all know, the longer a Windows system runs, the slower it runs. Now, instead of having to reinstall Windows every so often, I can simply restore the computer to a nice clean setup and start again, all fresh and new.

PROS
- Clean design and sturdy feel
- Big keyboard
- Bright screen
- Included backup software

CONS
- Key placement takes a bit of getting used to
- Small touchpad will require some customization
- Included case is about as cheap as it gets

Okay, so the cons aren't really that bad. I'm telling you, I had to stretch to come up with that list because the NC10 is just that sweet of a machine.

Finally, the touchpad will require some customization in order to really be effective. I found that the biggest help was turning on Momentum, so that the pointer keeps sliding when you flick the touchpad, and setting the touchpad to a nice light touch.

Overall, the Samsung NC10 seems to set the current bar for which all other netbooks must reach.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I had been looking for a netbook for some time now and I have tried out a few different brands/models. I finally ending up choosing the Samsung NC10 (Blue). I can sum up my decision very easily: this netbook is awesome. I have had the Dell mini, Asus Eee PC 900 series, and an Acer Aspire One in my hands. I also looked into the HP and MSI models.

If you are looking at several different netbooks, consider googling "netbook comparison" and take a look at Optimitza's comparison table.

Some details, however, are not easily compared. Sure the specs on this and many other netbooks are the same, but the Samsung NC10 wins in several areas in my opinion:

**Screen size - the 10.2" screen really gives you the perfect amount of screen real estate and is a real advantage over 9" models. It's not too big and not too small.

**Battery life - Samsung claims up to seven hours of battery life with their 6 cell battery. I haven't tested it completely, but it is definitely holding up very well!!

**Hard drive - it's not solid state, but you are getting 160GB. Very nice (although if you use there backup/restore feature it will be a little less).

**Matte screen - some people prefer the glossy screen found on the Dell mini, but the NC10 has a great screen. Perfect viewing angles, brightness, and excellent resolution.

**Memory - 1GB, but easily upgradeable to 2GB. See below.

**Speed - I was impressed by the speed. Windows XP runs very well on the NC10 and you should be able to use a variety of applications on it.

**Feature packed - wireless, bluetooth, 3 USB, microphone, headphone, webcam, card reader

**Keyboard - after trying out some other models, I knew that the keyboards on the netbooks might be an issue for me. The NC10's keyboard is obviously still smaller than a normal laptop, but I feel that it is bigger than other netbooks and very tactile. It's sturdy and feels great. Plus you have a full row of function keys, which is not the case on some other netbooks.

**Touch Pad - netbooks have small touch pads and you will have to get used to it. The NC10's touch pad is no different, but it does have a scroll function and has just the right sensitivity.

**Durability - the NC10 seems to be very well built. The pieces and parts are well joined and it feels good in the hands.

**Design - Samsung opted for a different design approach. Instead of the "square" corners and sides, the netbook is more rounded. The ports come out from the machine. I was unsure at first, but I have to say that I have really come to love the design of the NC10. It's sturdy, well-built, and just feels good in your hands.

The Samsung NC10 has a bit more weight to it (total of 2.8lbs), but it's not noticeable. It's still ultra portable and light. As for price, I caught mine on sale which made it almost the same price as its competition. Plus, the NC10 has all features included unlike Dell or some others. You don't have to worry about raising the price as you add on features. The NC10 already has what you need.

A lightweight case is included (unlike some other netbooks). I opted to buy a different case (the Mobile Edge 10" sleeve, which has a little slack but fits the NC10 and power adapter very well).

I was not thrilled with the software included. Samsung had a backup/restore utility that also partitioned the drive. I'm sure it's great for general users, but I prefer to have my computers clean of any manufacturer software when I buy them. It looks like the software works very well, it's just my preference.

QUICK MEMORY UPGRADE:
You can easily upgrade the memory in this machine at a cheap price. Anyone can complete this upgrade and it will NOT void your warranty. All you have to do is take one screw off and a plastic cover. Memory is cheap right now, but be careful which one you get. It appears that some are recommending memory with a lower speed...this netbook can handle more. A 1GB stick is standard, but you can easily install a 2GB DDR2 800MHz stick. I chose to get Kingston 2GB 800MHZ DDR2 Sodimm available at Amazon, Newegg, or other stores. If you need help with installation there are instructions and a video available at laptop magazine's web site.

If I were to sum the Samsung NC10 up in one word, it would be "quality". It feels sturdy, looks good, and is well-built. Samsung did a great job and you should definitely put this on your list of considerations if buying a netbook. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Anyone who needs a computer that is VERY mobile, runs forever, and works great get this. I can use this thing extensively all day with the Wi-Fi on all day without needing a charge. Actually it is home right now, in stand-by, and I haven't plugged it in in two days.

If you need to install a program that comes on a CD or DVD just copy/paste it to a removable drive of some sort plug that in and click on the setup file from there. I installed Office 2007 this way.

Discount Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I bought this machine as personal laptop. It's great for most everything I need to do--Web browsing, music, photo management, personal finance software, etc. The Atom CPU isn't lightning fast like the latest Centrino from Intel, but for most people it's perfectly adequate, and it means terrific battery life (about 5.5 hrs generally in my case). I didn't realize how much long battery life meant until this machine. I can set it up running most of the day without plugging it in - I can leave the power adapter home most of the time when I'm out or at work.

I've used it to rip around 200 of my CDs - the huge (for a tiny laptop) hard disk took all that easily. It's great for Web browsing of course, though pages load noticeably slower than my work laptop (a recent Dell dual-core machine).

The keyboard is fine for typing, and I have large hands. My only complaint is with the location of the Home and End keys. They are at the bottom right, with PageUp/Down keys, and you have to use the Fn key with them. So to select everything from the cursor to the document end, it's Shift-Fn-End key. I would have put the PrintScreen, Insert and Delete keys on the lower right instead.

I got a bluetooth mouse (Kensington Pilot Mouse Mini, around $30 on special), which works great--no dongle required. An external CD/DVD drive is pretty essential too (the LG Slim matches the NC10 nicely). This isn't necessarily the cheapest Atom-based netbook, but the great battery life, spacious hard disk, upgradable memory and good size screen convinced me to get it, and it's been great so far.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Samsung entered the netbook and notebook business this year and came in at the top end of the market in all categories, and while this netbook has the best specs on the market, I can't give it a 5 star which will be explained in the "cons" section.

Pros:
-10.2 inch screen is sharp and big enough to avoid the frustration of a 8.9"
-120GB storage
-If you have a netflix membership, this netbook makes an awesome netflix instant movie viewer (if you have a good internet speed)
-Fast out of the box
-Wifi a cinch to connect to
-Glossy shell, chrome accents, and LED lights make this look professional, classy, and high tech
-Keyboard is by far the most laptop-like keyboard. I'm 6 ft 3 with big hands and I don't feel cramped.
-Built in bluetooth useful for using a cell phone internet connection.
-Built in 1.3 MP webcam
-Battery life by far the best of them all.. About 5.0 hours with full brightness on, and about 6 hours with it a little dimmer.

Con's:
-No SSD drive. I can't even imagine how much faster and how much more battery life this would have with an SSD, and samsung makes the best SSD's on earth. I understand this would have driven cost up.
-1GB memory. While this equals it's competitors with the maximum included RAM, why not destroy the competition with 2GB? I'd have paid the extra premium for it.
-Webcam software... Compared to Cyberlink Youcam (which won't work on this because the screen doesn't meet resolution requirements), the included webcam software is generic and boring. It makes it a lot more fun having special effects and backgrounds.
-External speakers are close to worthless. You must use headphones for quality listening.

The con's I'm listing are issues universal to all netbooks so it's not Samsungs fault, but they could have seperated themselves from the competition by a mile including some options the others won't. If you want a netbook and understand the limitations of all of them going in, this is the best one money can buy, and I've researched them all in depth. Great purchase!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I'm a college student and I use to carry around a Dell Inspiron laptop (which was way too big) to my classes and was a big bother because some of the desks were small and always had to sit next to an electrical outlet, fearing the battery would die out if i didn't.

With the Samsung NC10, it is much more convenient now for me to use in classes because of its perfect size and great battery life. Other reviewers have already pointed out the pro's: great keyboard, Windows XP, battery life, and the 10 inch screen, which is just about the right size, not too big and not too small.

The only slight con, would be the trackpad is too small. But, I've always used a wireless mouse for my laptops, so does not really effect me much. Other than that the Samsung NC10 is great and highly recommended for college students!!

BTW, for those of you who are wondering, I upgraded my RAM to 2GB, and it does not effect the battery life at all, and manage to upload Microsoft Office without an external CD/DVD drive. If you have a desktop PC just insert the cd in the desktop drive and copy the file folders into an USB drive and in turn use it to upload office on the NC10.

Buying Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Ok, this is a quick review after 1 full day of use of Samsung NC10 (blue). The battery claims seem true, it did hold 5-6 hours with heavy use (installing a lot of software, wifi on, Firefox w/hulu, vlc music player in the background). I am just estimating here, no precise measurements were done. The LCD is bright and a special Fn key made turning the brightness on and off easy. The overall computing power w/ the Atom processor is fine, no problem running basic office applications, email, media players. There is no crapware pre-installed. All the Samsung software added over win xp sp3 make sense and works well. Some custom drivers are included. The keyboard is not as good as HP 1035 but overall is decent, you can use it ok if you don't have extra large hands. The trackpad is small but gets the job done. 3 USB ports seems enough. The on/off power button on the right side is cool and practical. 160 GB HDD is plenty. I have installed also full Fedora Linux 10 distro. It works well, (including wireless), out of the box. No Linux voodo required. The hard drive is divided in 2 partitions initially. Wifi g is excellent, plenty of signal around the house at both floors, great speed surfing the internet.
Now, few complains: once overall seems like a ok solid machine, there are some touches of not-so-inspired chassis and cover designs. The interior of the netbook is matte but the exterior lid is glossy; I suppose, this is a matter of taste. Always will be people who like the shiny Iphone and others who like the Gphone. Same with the metal-trim around the edges. Also, making the edges thinner then the rest of the machine creates an illusion that the netbook is slimmer, but in the same time there is a concern if anything bumps into those edges. I rather like the understated simplicity of Lenovo S10 in this regard. These machines need to do some duty outside of the cozzy work desk of their owner and I would say Samsung still has some work in this area. All in all a great electronics piece but harmed by some cheap exterior design touches. One more thing: the 1GB memory can be upgraded to 2GB opening a small door on the bottom of NC10. However, if you intend to upgrade the HDD, you need to open the main cover of the machine for good and you will void the warranty. Would I recommended it?, yes, if one likes the glossy lid style and does no plan to harm the machine doing errants outside the house.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Purchase Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

There are a lot of reviews here raving about this netbook, so I won't repeat those statements. This really is a great little ultra portable computer. But one feature that I stumbled upon that made a difference to me was with the trackpad. Yes, as stated in all the reviews, it is small. Obviously Samsung wanted to keep the overall size of the case down. But, while looking at the various options for the trackpad I turned on the "tackball" option. This lets the cursor behave like you are actually using a trackball. Meaning, the cursor carries a momentum with it. With a flip on the trackpad you can get the cursor to gently glide across the screen. This really helps making up for the small trackpad. If you have ever used a trackball before, you will instantly appreciate this feature.
I highly suggest you try it out.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This device is great, and very convenient. The keyboard is amaizing. The screen is way better than the 8.9 inches ones. There is no fan noise, or overheating problem. The battery lasted for 5 hours, browsing and doing micorsoft works, which was my main purpose of obtaining this device. I don't use it to watch video which can consume more of the battery. Where To Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I am sitting in the hotel lobby right now writing this review on my wonderful NC10 that I got for Christmas. Okay, so my wife told me just to buy it and put it under the tree, but it was worth the wait! Let me add my voice to the cacophony of those singing the NC10's praises! I luckily didn't get one of the screens with blotches that others have complained of. However, I would say Samsung ought to get credit for taking steps to address the problem and repair those that are affected.

As others have mentioned the keyboard is wonderful; perfectly capable of handling normal typing. The white is stylish and looks nice. The build quality seems superb and I am thoroughly enjoying the ultra-portability of the NC10. I can say I was initially concerned about the 10-inch screen being an annoyance after only using full-sized laptops but I find the screen size absolutely fine for average netbook use. I wouldn't want to write a thesis on it, but for light word processing and internet, it's fine!

Shop For Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This is an actual laptop with 1.6 GHz processor, not a retarded machine for "light word processing, emailing and web browsing" like the laptop companies advertise it. They are just afraid that people will buy netbooks instead of the overpriced portable laptops and they are right! I've seen quite a few reviews from computer "professionals" that just repeat mindlessly the official advertisement that netbook can't perform like a laptop. Obviously those never had a netbook and most netbook owners will disagree completely with them. The Intel Atom processor of NC10 has hyperthreading - the processor splits in two virtual processors during calculation - which increases the speed. This processor will beat in speed any old 1.6 GHz processor without hyperthreading so don't believe it can't run serious programs. I run numerical/symbolic math software on it: Mathematica, Maple, Matlab and it works just like my desktop or my presario laptop.

Main pros:
* 6 cell battery with 6-8 hours lifetime and it doesn't look ugly like some others
* bright crisp screen
* big comfortable keyboard, easy to touch-type on it
* completely adequate speed for 95% of the users
* has bluetooth
* very silent fan
* excellent Samsung customer service. I am talking from experience - if a repair is needed they give you a 'transaction number'. You go with your netbook and that number to UPS store and they do the packing for you and send it to the Samsung repair facility with 2-days Air completely free.
* excellent support forum at sammynetbook dot com where you will find lots of valuable information to resolve problems or improve performance of your Sammy

Cons (all with workaround):
* touchpad is small vertically. Solution: Enable the momentum function in the NC10 trackpad settings and disable the pinch function, vertical, horizontal and hyral scrolling. The momentum makes the pointer glide "by inertia" after you flick the trackpad so you can cover bigger distance with less effort. For the scrolling, I downloaded a modded synaptics driver that lets me do two-finger scroll like on Mac's. If you can't do that, download and install a free program TwoFingerScroll that will allow you to scroll by dragging two fingers up and down like on Macs.

* speakers are weak. Solution (under Windows XP with the original Samsung software installed):
go to control panel -> sound devices -> realtek
uncheck the karaoke voice cancellation if it's on
the karaoke has to be at zero level
go to the equalizer and put all frequencies on the maximum

* some hard drives are noisy when parking the head - some antivirus programs cause that every 5 seconds and it can get really annoying. The sound is like popping a bubble or breaking a small guitar string. NC10s come with several types of drives, the noisy type is usually Fujitsu. Solution: send it to Samsung for repair and tell them you want a quiet hard drive. All the info on your hard drive will be lost so either do that from the very beginning when there's not much of new info or back the drive up.

* the glossy lid shows fingerprints easily. Solution: don't touch it on the lid, just on the periphery OR buy a WHITE NC10, it doesn't show fingerprints.

Keep in mind the WHITE NC10 is not as attractive or 'expensive looking' as they say. If this color is 'expensive' so is my toilet bowl LOL First of all, it's not snow-white like MacBooks but a DULL white+grey mixture. Second, I've had both the blue NC10 with the black keyboard and the white NC10 with the grey keyboard and definitely think the black keyboard with the contrast white symbols on it is MORE visible in low light than the grey keyboard with the pale grey symbols on it. So the public opinion turns out wrong again ...

I find the design of Lenovo S10 more attractive - it's slimmer, more rectangular, screen borders are narrower than Samsung NC10. The deal breaker is that Lenovo S10 has a noisy fan that kicks on and off all the time and its 3-cell battery is weak - 2-3 hours at most. The 6-cell battery is about 6 hours but it looks like an ugly tumor protruding from the back and kills the nice design that S10 has with the 3 cell battery. Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This is my first Netbook, although I have worked with "portable" computers since they were the size of, designed like, and weighed as much as a mechanics tool box.

I have been using it exclusively now for about two weeks and I couldn't be happier. It is very peppy, the keyboard is exceptionally comfortable and it is portable enough to stick in my hydro-pack for those days I feel like working in the great beyond. The battery lasts for the entire day+ as long as I shut the lid when I am not engaged or I'm not wired to an external drive that sucks power.

The only draw backs are so minimal that they are only worthy of mention in that there is an easy solution. The touchpad is small and takes some getting use to, but that is easily eliminated by using a mouse and turning the touchpad off (Function/F10). The screen is small but headers and task bars and be easy toggled on/off (F11), as was pointed out to me by another reviewer. The speakers do leave something to be desired, but they will do in a pinch. The solution however is a good Bluetooth headset, as the built-in Bluetooth offers easy paring with several devices. Partitioning the harddrive on initial set up was not something that I was familiar with so I let it do its own thing and the 50/50 split works well for me as it offers another level of organization (I like my ducks in a row, otherwise I get lost).

I can't offer a great technical review, as I am a computer user, both in my personal life and my professional life, not a technician. This machine is however worth looking into from a user level, bigger, more powerful, and with all the gadgets is not always the way to go. I just wanted a computer that I didn't have to share with anyone, that I could leave on my nightstand for insomia induced inspiration, take with me and have enough juice for the day without taking the power cord or crashing into people with a heavy, oversized bag, and I didn't have to break the bank for the system or necessary add-ons that are only "necessary" once a year(borrow them). I do have an external HDD where I keep my photos, music, memory intensive programs, and personal files, but that stays at home. And somewhere in the house there is an external CD/DVD if I really feel incline to watch a movie or need to download a new program.

If you work on the go there couldn't be a better solution than a Netbook and from my limited experience, Samsung has it figured out, This is a keeper and by all means an acceptable primary computer.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

Amazing netbook. I got it quickly. It looks nice, feels like it's good quality, and runs extremely well. The battery life shocks and amazes me on it. The keyboard is very nice to type on, the few keys that got moved or shortened make sense, and feel good to use in their modified state. The wireless conectivity is excellent as well.
Nothing negative to say about this. It's small, light, quiet, has lots of go power.
I would recommend an upgrade of the bag, as the fabric one that comes with the netbook isn't too secure.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality

After buying and returning three Asus 1000HA units, I purchased the Samsung NC10. I purchased my first and only NC10 unit a few weeks ago - it's definitely been a great netbook choice. The problems I had with the 1000HA (crackly speakers, loose housing around battery) do not exist with the NC10. Features I especially like about the NC10:

Battery life - I have reached as much as 9 hours and 20 minutes when fully charged (9 is an extreme, more routinely I get about 7 hours and 30 minutes)
Lightweight - ultra portable
Slim profile (fits easily in my tote)
Sturdy build, great overall feel
Bluetooth - though I still don't know what I'd use it for
Easy memory upgrade (did it myself)
Keyboard a great size/layout

For those who have the NC10 and are experiencing jerky video play, try this: create a new user (mine is called "movies") that you'll use only for watching videos. Disable as much programming as you can on that user profile. I did this on my NC10 and now I can watch hulu.com without any problems. If try to watch videos with my other user account, I experience the jerkiness. I also figured out how to share the c drive of my desktop PC on my home network so not having an internal disc drive on the netbook is no longer a problem.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery This instant

I had been in the market for a mini netbook for some time. I had tried the ASUS 7inch which was much too small and had a very awkward keyboard.

Later, I purchased a Everex StepNote from TigerDirect, off Lease. Fortunately at that time, I purchased a replaement warranty. When the computer crashed 3 months later, TigerDirect sent me a gift card for the amount of the purchase price of the Everex (499.99) and I turned right around and ordered this item from Amazon.

I can't really say anything bad about it. It is so quiet you don't even realize it is on. The keyboard and characters are all where they are supposed to be. I turned it on this morning and it's 5:56 pm and the "low battery" indicator just clicked on. I stays cool. Light weight and easy to carry, love the blue color. However, with the blue color, fingerprints abound. I'm also thinking of buying one for my mother.

existing reviews outline almost all of what i could possibly say. it is an amazing machine for portable work. fast, convenient, chic, prestigious. it looks more expensive than it is. when i tell people how much i paid for this machine, there is nearly noone who is not dazzled.
one thing is the mouse pad. i would buy a portable wireless laser mouse to use with this machine. for long use, the mouse pad is annoying because of the size.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

Love the NC 10. The day-to-day tasks are fast and and it behaves like a normal Windows XP machine. The main uses for this machine are internet, office, photoes when traveling and other such basic tasks.

The fit and finish are excellent. The screen is bright.
---------------
CONS
Trying to find faults in this machine is difficult but;
Screen size. Problem with the screen is that it is slightly too short in height. To combat this you may simply make the taskbar autohide, without this, the main window pane seemed pinched
Touch pad. The touch pad is very short (up and down) so some adjustments are needed to get it up and down without retreading over and over. I find it much easier to just use a mouse . I wish that Samsung had used the extra space above and below the touchpad to simply increase its size.
---------
PROS
Weight.Hard Drive.Battery.Speed.

Battery, I tested it out to run for 4h 30 min on my flight back from Argentina This was a huge selling point for me. Most other netbooks have similar features as the NC 10 but many lack the 6-cell battery.

Hard drive. The response time is fast. No noticible lag when accessing the hard drive or save large files. Having 160GB hard drive is important to me because of all my travel stuff.
----------
CUSTOMIZING IT
As with all laptops, this one comes preinstalled with a bunch of stuff you may or may not want.

Enjoy. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Great battery life, upgradable memory, fantastic netbook keyboard (especially because the 'Ctrl' key is outside the 'Fn' key. Take that Lenovo). I bought it for my wife who is working on her dissertation, and she would rather work on this than our fast desktop with a 24" monitor. The blue finish is excellent, much nicer than the white one. I installed XP Pro and a 2GB stick of PC2-5300, but didn't notice too much improvement over the 1GB, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you need the placebo (I do!). Pair this with a bluetooth mouse and you are ready for anything.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Buy Now

I was a little bit skeptical at first because a lot of people told me that netbooks have rather poor performance and only very limited memory. However, after reviewing various different models (Asus Eee, Acer Aspire ONE, MacBook Air), I figured that the NC10 is the best choice. The MacBook may beat it performance wise but only has one USB port. the NC10 has 3 USB ports, none of the netbooks have disc drives though but that doesn't bother me.
I particularly like the amazing battery life of the NC10, up to 8 hours! Keeps me well entertained with movies on long haul flights. Also, the screen is very big for such a compact unit. Most netbooks, for some reason, don't have a screen that takes up all the space if could, resulting in a bulky looking plastic "frame" around a too small screen.
Performance-wise, I'm running MS Office 2007 enterprise on it (OS: XP, never again Vista). Additionally, I use Firefox and for my media needs, FrostWire and uTorrent, everything runs great as it did on my old laptop... until it pathetically died - twice.
Overall, I can recommend the NC10 to anyone who isn't a hardcore gamer. I've had it for two months now and not yet discovered any disadvantages to full-size computers except the non-present disc drive.
Oh, one last thing, I got it flat white which looks quite amazing with the blue lights of various status lights and the power button. It does get looks because of that and, naturally, its size.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I have to agree with what almost everyone else is saying in that this unit is great for what it is. Yes you have to adapt to the smaller screen and touch pad but for what it is it works very well.

The screen looks good, keyboard is nice, and the battery life is excellent. You don't have to void the warranty and gut the whole thing to upgrade the memory but you do if want to upgrade the hard drive so that is something to take into consideration. I don't see any problems with the screen on my unit that was purchased here on 12/31.

Samsung even includes recovery discs in the box. Right off the bat I started the system up to see what was on it. Then I used a USB DVD drive and the included OS disc to delete the recovery partition and reinstall just the OS. Then I used the included application disc and it let me install just the couple utilities that I wanted without all the other stuff, nice.

My only real complaints would be that the case it comes with is only slightly useful because it won't protect from impacts and the flap doesn't have a fastener. The other thing is that when a SD card is inserted it is not flush with the body of the laptop. It sticks out a little bit but is tolerable.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I'd had an Acer Aspire One for a few months when my brother expressed an interest in buying a small laptop; I hatched the idea of giving him a deal on my AAO if I could find something I might like a little more. My only real dissatisfaction with my AAO (120G HD, WinXP, 3-cell model) had been battery life; watching a movie on iTunes, I could barely get through an hour and a half, and I generally had to pay a lot more attention to the battery meter than I wanted.

After some research, I settled on the Samsung NC10 as something that might suit my needs better. Both are fine machines, with very similar specs; here are my thoughts on the two, after a few months with the Acer and a few days with the Samsung.

Size and weight are the biggest difference (though in fairness, a 6-cell AAO would be pretty close in weight) - but as with most tradeoffs, the right choice depends on what you want to do with it. If I was really going to be carrying it around regularly, the Acer would be more handy. My primary use, though, is as a "kitchen computer" for around the house, plus entertainment and email on the occasional trip. Since portability is a bit less of a concern, I can afford the NC10's bigger dimensions to get the bigger screen and keyboard.

Things I like about the NC10:

* Bigger keyboard feels very close to full size.

* The matte screen is better in many environments compared to the glossy screen of the Acer. Flying with the Acer, I had problems with the reflections of the reading lights of the passengers behind me, and there were similar issues in other environments. I get a bit less contrast with the NC10 -- the blacks aren't quite as black in some settings -- but it's a reasonable price to pay.

* I wasn't really getting used to the Acer's touchpad buttons being on the side. The NC10's button position underneath the touchpad is more natural for me. The difference isn't as great as I had hoped, though - I'd wanted to be able to click-and-drag with one hand by using the thumb and index finger, but the touchpad area is so cramped that this is difficult, and I still resort to two hands fairly often.

* Aside from positioning, the touchpad's buttons do feel more usable on the NC10; you really need to push on the Acer's buttons, while with the NC10, you can do a more gentle tap.

* The NC10's labels for the side connectors, printed on the top surface around the keyboard, are a very useful touch I'd like to see more of. Not beautiful, but a victory of function over form.

* Both give on-screen feedback when you do various Fn-key operations such as turning off wireless or changing the brightness or volume, but Samsung uses nice clear graphics in the middle of the screen, while Acer's feedback is with simple and fairly light-colored text near the bottom of the screen; the latter was harder to see on light backgrounds.

* Very quiet out of the box. The Acer was just intolerably loud before I found and installed Ralf's free fan control app, which made a huge difference in the enjoyability of the AAO.

* If you're hung up on fingerprints, the NC10 has hardly any surfaces that attract them.

* I haven't done it yet, but I like the option of easily adding more memory.

Things I miss about the Acer:

* A nifty feature of the AAO's physical design is that the display's hinges are only at the sides, leaving a big gap along most of the length between the main body and the display's lid. I found I could get a very nice one-handed grip of the open AAO by slipping three fingers into this gap (getting my medium-size male fingers in up to the second knuckle), and spreading my pinky and thumb wide underneath the unit, turning it into, well, a mighty big "palmtop". This gives a very strong one-hand hold, leaving the other hand free for typing. If you think you might be using your netbook on your feet a lot, you should definitely try the Acer on for size. (In contrast, holding the NC10 Statue-of-Liberty style and trying to type on it isn't nearly as solid or comfortable.)

* The Acer's lid opened wider, which is nicer sometimes for casual household use, e.g. standing over a table or counter.

* The Acer's status LED's are above the keyboard near the display, easily visible while you're typing; the NC10's are on the front edge (toward your body as you type). This hides them under your hands when you're typing, and if you set the NC10 down in front of you to watch a movie, those bright blue LEDs are shining right at your face, and are a bit distracting.

* I kinda miss that extra money I had to spend on the Samsung; it's not the cheapest netbook.

Things I like about both:

* One thing that drew me to the NC10 was the similarity of its keyboard layout to that of the Acer; I had found myself coming to like the little navigation section in the lower right, that puts page up and down keys near the arrow keys. I had discarded some other NetBook options based on keyboard layout; I like to use PgUp/PgDn when reading, and having to hit a function key for them was unacceptable. I still have to hit "Fn" to get Home and End, but I use them less often. In contrast, the keyboard on a colleague's Dell Mini 9 felt very unnatural - not only cramped, but with many keys in nonstandard places.

* Both fit really well on a cramped coach airline seat tray (the Acer a bit better, of course). In contrast, my full size "work" laptop (a 15" Thinkpad) is just about unusable.

* Space! I hate it when a computer's disk starts getting full and I have to worry about what to delete, so I never really considered the SSD-based netbooks.

Things I don't like about both:

* The vertical resolution (these are 1024x600) isn't enough for many web pages, particularly flash-based web pages for kids. Pbskids.org and webkinz.com were a couple of the sites where the richly animated apps just didn't fit vertically. If you're thinking about a netbook as a kid's computer, you might want to think seriously about a more full-size laptop, and maybe try out their favorite sites in a smaller browser window.

In conclusion: they're both great Netbooks, but the battery life and usability of the Samsung NC10 made it the best choice for me, despite the Aspire One's greater portability and lower cost.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

This netbook is very adequate for my needs. Perfect for travel and as a second computer in my household. Screen quality is very good. Size is great. Typing is very good. Speakers are a bit quiet, but with headphones the sound is great. So far, the battery has held up nicely - at least 5 hours with regular use. Quiet fan and it is not too hot for my lap (often a problem with larger laptops). I even like the screensaver that Samsung includes. Cheap Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

So when my HP laptop broke down, I wanted to find a new computer that would be affordable but functional. That's when I discovered the netbook genre. With so many brands out there, Asus's Eee Pc, Acer's Aspire one, MSI's Wind, HP's Atom, the list goes on, it can get a bit confusing. But at the end of the day, all of these netbooks are similar, if not exactly the same when it comes down to the technical specifications (screen size, processor, hard drive, wireless card, software, etc).

But there are several features that set this netbook apart. First, the Samsung NC-10 came out on top with its 6 cell battery (many other netbooks only have a 3 cell), which equals a MINIMUM of 4.5 hours, and easily over 7 hours when in its power saving mode. Also, this model has a 160GB hard drive, leaps and bounds over what many other netbooks offer. And, in another great stride, if you want to increase the RAM (from 1gb to 2gb), Samsung did a brilliant job making the RAM so accessible. It's as simple as removing a screw from a panel on the bottom of the computer that says "Memory", removing the panel, and switching out the memory aka RAM. The function keys are very useful, for everything from volume, screen resolution, power mode, wireless networking, external screen options, and more, making using this computer a genuinely fun experience. I had Vista running on my old laptop, and even though I have not upgraded the RAM, this thing runs effortlessly with the XP provided. If you are worried about Windows XP, don't be, because I have transferred every single application that I had with Vista to this computer, and have lost zero performance. It even has a slot to insert SD memory cards (unfortunately not for memory sticks).

Now, nothing is perfect. First of all, I have medium sized hands, and though the keyboard works great for touch typing, there isn't much space between the start of the keyboard and the end of the computer to rest your wrists on, which can strain yours hands after a while. Purchasing a wrist pad will help. Also, one drawback of having one of the roomiest keyboards on the netbook market (95% full size) means this has a smaller touch pad. It's very reactive and has the same pinch/stretch properties that apple touchpads have, but it still takes some getting used to. Also, I got this in blue, and the top is a fingerprint magnet. And if you plan on playing music from your netbook, be sure to get external speakers, because these speakers are by far the worst thing about it, with a generic tinny sound to them.

If I had to go back and do it again, I would definitely buy this computer again. Of course, in the world of technology, things constantly change, so in about a year I may have my eyes on a Vista or Windows 7 netbook, but for now I'm very happy with this purchase. Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I am very excited as this is my first Netbook, and it's probably the best one that you could get in the market at present time. Samsung pretty much took the best features from different brands and makes of Netbooks, and cramped them into this one nice and tiny package.

Pros: The size and weight is great. Strap this into your backpack and you're ready to go. The power brick is tiny as well. If you're always travelling or on the road, but you don't want to lose touch with people over Skype or any IM engine, the in-built 1.3MP webcam and microphone work great! With 5-7hours of battery life, I think this is totally a deal breaker. The network adapter picks up any available Wi-fi signals really well. Bluetooth is also a bonus, considering this feature is absent on the european versions.

Cons: The touchpad is too small and takes a little more effort to get comfortable with it. It's quite responsive, and the single-button with a rocker in the middle works okay. The glossy coat on the surface of the outer casing is a finger print magnet. The white NC10 with matte finishing works much better IMHO.

As the other reviews have pointed out, as well as reviews on various computing web sites, the Samsung netbook is the probably the best choice out there. For me, the keyboard was the major decider: I can type on it as quickly and accurately as on my full-sized keyboard.

Unfortunately, the keyboard was also why I returned my beautiful little netbook (not easy, as I'd fallen in love with the little unit). After purchasing it, I read up a bit about nano silver -- the anti-bacterial coating on the Samsung keyboard. The silver particles are, like all nano particles, so small that they will readily enter the body through the skin. And some preliminary data suggest that these tiny bits of silver MAY be toxic to our immune (and other) systems. Check out Science News Web Edition for 11/30/08 - not enough data yet, but I'm not willing to take the risk. It's the MSI Wind for me!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Order Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I was going to send it back---because you have to buy an external drive which will probably cost me $100, not to mention the cost of new software. BUtttttt then I realized this morning, you can use this little guy outside. I love working outside and I have a Vaio with an amazing screen, but I can barely see it most of the time. This one you can see, even on a sunny morning like this morning---AMAZING!

I read all the one star reviews before I bought it and I have had none of those problems. I read as much as I could on all the different versions and went to the computer stores to look. Best Buy guy out and out lied to me---told me all of them would only get 4 hours. Look at the stats---this one has the biggest screen and the lowest weight for the battery life and I think battery life is key. You can't use something if you are always running out of juice and dragging along extra batteries and cords is not convenient. AND---no one mentioned that the screen can be seen outside on a sunny day! That makes it!

But will someone please tell me how to get Office XP into it. I have my product key and I know it should be a simple download, but I swear, Microsoft is so damn unhelpful. You send them a message and they answer on another topic! I don't know how many times I have bought Office XP just because I could not figure out how to register it again. Some cool IT type---please help me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

The machine is overall very functional. However my unit developed a problem of simply freezing up after 10 minutes of being left alone. Samsung tech support could not resolve the issue after complete restores. Probably just the one bad apple of the bunch. If the machine worked consistently I'd have kept it. However the constant freezing is unacceptable as it requires continuous hard resets. I've looked at several of the new "netbooks", including several ASUS models and the ACER Aspire. I've also read many, many reviews on virtually every other model by every other manufacturer, and the NC10 is hands down the best of the bunch. It makes the ASUS and ACER units look like cheap toys.

I would have preferred a flat charcoal black color, but the white is actually very nice. It's not glossy and doesn't show finger prints. The unit feels very solid, and the keyboard is excellent. My only complaint is that Samsung did not offer a Linux version. I really, really don't like paying the M$ tax. That's the only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars.

I removed XP and installed Debian with the full KDE GUI. I installed all the same apps I run on my dual-core desktop machine and everything runs just fine. Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I love this netbook! It is light, and compact, but it is not flimsy or low quality. The keyboard difference is barely noticeable, the only thing I wish was different is the placement of the home and end keys. I don't have music or pictures saved on this computer but it seems to be very fast, I can watch video on [...] with no problem, as well as listen to music on [...] . The battery life is awesome, I average 8hrs between charges. I can get more out of it if I stay off line. If I'm online listening to music and watching video constantly then battery time is a little less around 6hrs. I have only one thing I don't like about this computer and that is that it comes with McAfee already on it. I would highly recommend this netbook to anyone who is looking for one. I purchased the Samsung NC 10 netbook based on other reviews as it wasn't available in the stores yet. I did check out other brands that were on display at some local stores, but I didn't like the keyboards on the others, or the trackpad, esp on the HP. I couldn't be happier with this netbook. It's the perfect size to carry to work every day, and the keyboard is easy to use and navigate. I installed quicken and office on it and have run them with no problem. I commute to work daily on the train 1 hour plus each way. I wanted a netbook to use on the train and it's perfect for that. It's light enough to carry every day, and doesn't take up a lot of space on the sometimes crowded train. Several cars on my train have wireless internet, and I love being able to access the internet from the train. The only issue I have is occasionally I end up clicking on something I didn't intend to, but that is probably due to not being used to a laptop, as I haven't used one in 5 years. I highly recommend this netbook.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately

I work with both this Samsung and Dell 9" netbooks. I like them both and would get the Samsung if price were same or not much difference. I got my Dell at their Outlet store when they had the christmas 20% off sale. Made it much cheaper.

1. These are not laptop replacements and if you are going to try that you will be returning it. They are meant for travel or work in small places where a laptop wouldnt fit easily or isnt convenient. My clients will use them in their pickups where they dont have to have a vehicle desktop, they can just use their seat divider perfectly. Some will use them at work sites where they can be easily protected versus a regular size laptop.

2. Both seemlessly connect to Bluetooth GPS for Ag software and Bluetooth Mice.

3. Both netbooks connected to the Wireless networks where I have tested them.

4. Big difference is that the Dell uses a 16GB SSD drive and the Samsung uses the big 160GB HDD. The Dell is not meant for many different programs, loaded Office Pro 2003 but not 2007 (That would tax the system too much I think, it is a hog. I like it but it needs resources and it still is slow.) and Ag software programs for tracking and GPS. The Samsung has much more storage and I did load Office Pro 2007 on it and it is not that bad, wouldnt beat any records but so far is ok. WIll upgrade to 2GB when can.

5. The most viewable difference is the keyboard. The Dell's keyboard is usable but it takes some getting used to. The Samsung works pretty darn normal. I am a big person so it is a little cramped but definitely usable. The difference would be worth the cost if you are going to be typing a lot.

6. 10" Samsung screen, enough said. The Dell has a very nice screen also though.

I am not trying to knock either machine, I am very impressed with both. What I want to do is try to get people looking to replace their main laptop with a netbook to second guess that. Both machines are very nice and are packed with all you need to have a great "Travel" or special use machine. Clients are going to use these as another tool not to replace a laptop. Some are happy now because they can have a laptop again. Oh well that is my 2 cents worth. This is a nice laptop and would definitely recommend for the right purpose. Head to head with the others I think this one is the winner now. Happy with my purchase.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Best Quality

I have used this SAMSUNG NC10 netbook for nearly a month.
I have no complaint so far.
I spent almost a month to read the review articles about almost every kind of netbooks and I came to a conclusion that NC10 is the number one netbook. Now this guy has never disappointed me at all.

It's small and light, so you can easily carry it.
But at the same time it's not that small for your work (10.2" screen).
I have tried extensively MS Office (mostly word, power point and excell), Dream weaver, playing movie, a game, ...

The batter is amazing. If you do some light works like MS Office, and internet surfing, it could last over 7 hours with minizing screen light intensity. (I have no problem to read and write even in day time with the minimized screen light intensity)

The keyboard is amazingly big considering the size of the netbook.
I do not feel any difference between regular size notebook and this one.

You can upgrade the memory to 2 Gb, while the memories of other brands are not upgradable. And since it's only about $30, I upgraded it to 2 Gb.

Anyhow, this was one of the best choices that I ever made.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R36ZQ53LE3DQH5 I really love my little netbook (small notebook as some manufacturer's would rather call it).
To reiterate what I stated in the video, here are the main points:

1. Excellent sized keyboard at 93% of full sized version. (MSI is comparable, but the shift key among other things aren't quite as natural as the NC10. ie: shift key on MSI is more to the left instead of directly underneath the Enter key like the NC10). NC10 by far to me has the most natural keyboard for touch typists.

2. Superb long life battery. Up to eight hours, and around 5.5 hours of heavy use battery life. I gave it a heavy test by running multiple programs in the background while running streaming and got 5.5hrs with 20 minutes left on the battery. (The MSI at Best gets around 5 hours) Netbooks are supposed to be for "portability" and if your netbook can't get a decent charge and sustain it, that pretty much takes away it's ability to do so.

I realize it's personal preference, and I'm sure the MSI is a great item too, but these reasons to me make a big difference.

A note in the video about the NC10. So far they have released three colors in the NC10. Here are my 2 cents. Get the white (kind of a pearl subtle metallic silvery color as you can see in the video). The black and the blue are incredibly pretty, but they've got a high gloss finish. High gloss finish = fingerprint purgatory. If you can't keep it smudge free, it takes away it's professional and clean look.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Buy Now

This is far the best little computer I have ever had! Perfect size, light weight, long last battery life, fast. Honestly everything. I know some people complained about how small the touch mouse is etc. BUt have I have not had one single problem. It did take me a while to adjust to how small it was, but thats because im used to normal sizes laptop.

The only down side about this netbook, really is the fact that it doesnt have a DVD/CDROM, but for the size of this thing, and all that it offers, i cant really complain about that.

I love it, Im in love, I take it everywhere. I has not disappointed me yet! I highly recommend this beauty!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now

I researched netbooks and asked for the Samsung as a Christmas present. It has barely left my hands since then. I was a bit worried about the short screen height, but it isn't usually an issue. The keyboard is fantastic. A piano-playing friend finds the keys too small for his hands; for my smaller female hands it's perfect and takes surprisingly little adaptation, the biggest problem being the placement of the page up/page down keys. I am not happy with the touchpad (too close to the keyboard) and will be buying an external mouse, I think.

I use the NC10 entirely to surf the Net and run OpenOffice; for those needs, it's perfect. It wakes up from hibernation very quickly. Everybody I show it to wants one.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now

My full time employment for 20 years has been and remains to design computers. I spent several weeks searching netbooks before deciding on this purchase. I was aware of every offering from the different vendors currently selling small notebooks and netbooks before selecting this one. I already have a great laptop at work, a great desktop setup at home with top of the line options.

Major reasons I wanted a Netbook and why I selected this one:
1) 10.2" 8.9" display is to small to see in some cases but more importantly the keyboard is so compressed it is hunt and peck typing. I can generally type at full speed on this Netbook. The only exceptions are special keys like delete, page up, etc. that are not in standard places, they will take a little learning curve. However, I researched carefully the keyboard, and found this keyboard, mouse combination the most closely resembling a full sized laptop keyboard. Some of the others researched were quite deficient in this area.

2) Long battery life. Most of the netbooks in the large discount stores only have 3 cell batteries to keep the cost down, and secondarily the weight. This unit has a 6 cell battery and weighs 2.8lbs instead of 2.2 lbs for comparable units. The higher price and heavier weight did not detract me. I never worry about will the battery hold up even when out all day.

3) Software. Netbooks running Windows XP Home run all of the software I have already purchased for my PC and programs I have written myself. I have already installed and regularly run dozens of programs on it. Some of these are: Microsoft Office 7 Home and Student edition, Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009 with GPS, Descent First Strike under OPGL, Star Wars Jedi Knight II, Merriam Webster Dictionary software, Oxford Spanish-English Dictionary software, Firefox 3, ... Everything ran great the first attempt. The performance on all software other than gaming is right on, the gaming requires the CPU performance to be cranked up to maximum, (putting the battery life down but above 4 hours) and plays acceptably well, but not as good as a twin SLI desktop.

4) Usage: I use this as a GPS on the road (I already owned the software described above) and get a 10.2" display instead of 2.5 - 5" for dedicated devices. This software does text to speech as well. When I am setting in my easy chair, I have this on my lap, it doesn't get hot and I can work and watch TV over the top of it (because it is short). I bought a small bluetooth mouse to go with it (no usb key required), and have a little table for my chair if doing more intense work. I have it set up to share files and printers with my home computer, so setting in my easy chair, I can get files from the main computer, modify them, print them, send them back for safekeeping. I can surf the internet and check details on upcoming TV shows, movies, latest news, weather, etc.

On weekends I have regular meetings reguiring multiple manuals, books, and reports I have loaded. I can access them all while setting in a class setting (small space) without disturbing those around me, easy to handle, easy to use.

Summary
I have no doubt I got the best Netbook available for my needs, I love it. I have not had any problems at all, had it now about 1 month. If you need 3G attached internet with a hefty monthly connection fee, you can get ith with a USB adapter.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Lowest Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The Samsung NC10 was a great purchase I use it all the time. For the money it has the best balance of features and ergonomics. One feature that does not get much press is the inclusion of Bluetooth. Because it comes standard you can use Bluetooth mice, headsets, or even keyboards with the system without taking up any USB slots. The only two downgrades I would give the system for hardware are the following:

-The speakers are of low quality, and do not go above medium for sound output.
- The touch pad is small, not much smaller then other netbooks, but they touch pad does take some adjusting to.

On the positive side the fit and finish of the system is excellent. The battery life is as long as advertised with easily 7 hrs being possible. Samsung as seems to be providing driver updates and firmware updates in a timely manner, so the support from Samsung seems very strong. Looking around most agree this is the best 10" netbook for sale, and I have to agree.

Nice, light, and fast. After reading dozens of reviews about all these netbooks, made the choice for the samsung and Im extremely happy. Keyboard is very usable, unlike some the the ones i tested at bestbuy, and the battery actually lasts. they say 6 and i don't doubt it. i've taken it to 5 easily and it says it has an hour and half left.

Highly recommend.
