Lowest Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I am not a computer geek or a person that know much about technology things. I owned this netbook for 8 months now and I am loving it. I used to own a Toshiba laptop and it was huge with a very loud noise and very heavy. I had back pain carrying it to school everyday and because the battery on that laptop only last for 30 mins it was a pain running around the lecture hall locating a plug. So i started to seek for something with a reasonable price, size, weight and function. And Samsung NC 10 qualified all my categories.

I carry it with me everywhere I go, it is very light and the I can type comfortably. It is like carrying my chihuahua, he is heavier than this netbook, can you believe it? I went on a trip to Las Vegas last week and I had it turned on all the way through on the road watching movies. I just cannot live without this netbook anymore.

But one think I didn't like is the speaker, it is very weak. The volume of the speaker is very limited. So I re-installed window xp and installed the original sound thing and it is much better. Other than that, I have zero complain for this tiny netbook.

The price is affortable, it is durable and easy to use. Good for college student or for people who always travels.

Hope this helps!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Low Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I have nothing negative to say about this "netbook," as far as I am concerned it is just a small, light weight laptop. When I was looking for a netbook I had two major criteria; it had to weigh less than 3lbs and have a battery life greater than 4 hours. After reading all the reviews, I selected the NC10 and have been so delighted with it I bought another one for my wife. The screen is a good size to watch movies and surf the internet and with the added 1gb memory (which only costs around $26), I can run Microsoft office with no problems. This netbook, with its size and battery life, is great for travelers. I use it on the plane all the time. The only negative on this thing would be the speakers, you need to use ear phones...other than that it is a great buy.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

After checking the consumer reporting magazine as well as online reviews I felt confident that the Samsung NC 10 Netbook would serve my needs for a lightweight travel tool. I ordered the blue one from Amazon.com for $397 at 3:30 p.m. and selected overnight shipping at approximately $26 additional. The netbook was delivered by Fedex at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. For $400 I was not expecting the same build quality as a $2,000 laptop. It is, however, much better quality than I was expecting for the price. Yes, the outer case is plastic which gives a slight creak upon opening and it does show smudges and fingerprints. So what? It seems very durable. I had anticipated using the netbook primarily for on-the-go connectivity and occasional at-home use when the desktop pc's were tied up. After owning and using this small computer for nearly a month I can very highly recommend it. It is extremely light and very portable. Boot up and shut down are quick. WiFi connections are fast. The screen is just large enough - anything smaller might make some internet pages illegible. The nearly full sized keyboard is ideal, no improvements are needed at all. Battery life has been amazing! I left the factory default settings for screen brightness, etc. and the battery regularly provides over six hours of service before a "plug me in" reminder pops up. I downloaded the free Open Office suite which includes a word processor, spread sheet, presentation program, drawing program and others. These are supposed to be completely compatible with similar "MS" programs used in many emails, etc.

When at home, I keep the netbook handy, within reach of my easy chair. It is so convenient to be able to crack it open, boot up within seconds and check email, perform some quick research, or make an online purchase. Although it was not intended for such frequent in-home use, it has become quite often used in place of one of the desk top computers. Friends and co-workers who have seen this netbook have been thoroughly amazed, especially at the quality and features as compared to the low price. Yes, I recommend this particular netbook and would most definitely purchase another one should I lose or damage this one.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheapest Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

After carrying around a brick in my briefcase for years, I decided I needed to get a sub or netbook. After researching for months, I decided on the Samsung. I am very happy with this purchase

SCREEN - The screen is crystal clear, bright and well made so it is easier to read than I had expected.

KEYBOARD - My worries about the keyboard size are unfounded as it is surprisingly large and easy to type on even long term

FEATURES - Plenty of USB ports, headset, mic, webcam built in, SD card slot in front, bluetooth.....all the goodies!

BATTERY - I went with the 6 cell battery and this thing lasts FOREVER. I am used to my Dell (no slam on Dell that thing has lived on many years, thousands of miles, being dropped, etc. and still works) but the battery life on this is insane.

SMALL BUT #1 - But you can only cram so much horsepower in a small light package so the internet performance with streaming video is not so great with stalls and such. I have not tried playing a DVD on it but that will be a big disappointment if that suffers.

SMALL BUT #2 - The track pad is small and located in an offset (rather than centered) position which takes some getting used to. The accuracy of the track pad is 3 star, a bit finicky. You need multiple strokes to go across the screen. If you set the mouse to cross in one stroke, it is too skittish to accurately highlight words and such with WORD and EXCEL.

Other than a couple of minor caveats, this thing rocks! And the cool blue color and styling doesn't hurt either.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I purchased my Samsung NC10-14GB Netbook six weeks ago.

My last laptop was purchased in 1998 and was heavy, bulky & generally unusable.

I searched and pondered a laptop, notebook or netbook purchase for over a year.
Mostly, I use Internet applications and word processing. I also use Skype & like watching videos online.

Here are my requirements:
Ease of keyboarding
Several USB ports
Wifi
Easy to use with Skype
Good memory
Good hard drive
Light
Long battery life

This netbook filled all of these requirements.

I like a mouse rather than a touchpad, so I purchased a Microsoft wireless mouse.
It was a very happy surprise to discover that this netbook also has bluetooth capability. It is great to have my bluetooth earpiece and talk away on Skype!

I am very pleased and it fulfills all of my requirements.

The one drawback are the speakers - they are not good at all. In order to watch a video with sound, I have to be in a very quiet room. I have not hooked up other speakers to it, but I am sure that would work just fine.

If you are looking for a good netbook for a low price, this is a great choice!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buying Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

First off, I've been a Mac user for 2+ years, so the Windows XP on this little machine does not impress in any way. And of late I've been getting used to Vista - so XP in comparison is just plain boring.

Looks - Not attractive by any stretch. Almost ugly. (I got the sapphire blue one). 2.5 stars. 3 at the most.
Ports, H/W etc - may be good - 3-and-half stars. (4 star ? - thats a stretch).
Weight, size, form-factor - light, ok.
The screen - you cannot compare it to the screen on a regular laptop - its not as good. Better go with LED.
Build quality - nothing negative to report in the short time I have had it.
Keyboard - nothing special there, very small compared to a regular laptop, wont want to make you type long emails.

No major defects to report other than its usual 'Wintel' lameness -surely the world has moved on to iPhones, blackberrys and Palm Pre's.

So why did I buy it?
I bought this as a gift for someone, but I am almost regretting this decision... Except its likely they might like it a whole lot!!

I am not Apple fanboy, though I am both a seasoned Apple, Windows and Unix user. (not sure if thats relevant ).

You will of course get what you pay for - at this low price it maybe good, but consider this - you are adding one more boring , unproductive gadget to your life.
I can predict this will gather dust in a short while.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

We purchased a Samsung NC-10 in February, worked as advertised. Then, under normal use, the back hinge began to work it's way out of the case. Suddenly, the clamshell would not open or close...and it was not of our making. As an engineer, I know a design defect when I see it. We sent in the NC-10 for service, Samsung claimed it was "customer fault". We escalated with no avail. My son worked all summer cleaning cat boxes and watering plants to finally get this Netbook, pretty sure that he will not be buying Samsung again--nor will my company, by the way. Purchase Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Just got the NC-10 in blue this week. I did as many other have done and set the hard drive as a full "C" drive. I wanted the extra HDD space and have the ability to restore any of the programs that might be lost if the HDD dumped. All components seem to be working great...so far....and I see no need to add anything else except a laptop mouse (just my choice/preference, not a true necessity). The screen is excellent IMO, far better than some other brands I looked at. I really like the exterior blue color I got..it has a classy look to it. The build/feel seem very good, again, compared to others I looked at and handled. The keyboard size/feel is also excellent.

The NC-10 has been everything most of the other reviewers here on Amazon have said. I don't see a need to repeat what most all of the other reviewers have said, so I'll say that I would definately recommend the Samsung NC-10 to anyone who needs netbook. The few dollars more you might spend over any other machines is well worth it. Oh BTW, check out "sammynetbook dot com" for some great tips and ideas.

Take care,

JJ

I've owned the NC10 for about a month now and I'm very pleased with it. It is a solid piece of hardware and everything works as expected. Excellent keyboard, quiet, and a very nice screen with an anti-glare coating. The touchpad could be a little larger but I prefer a small external mouse anyway. I've used it to surf the web with Firefox and worked on my house design with Google Sketchup. It ran for 8+ hours on a single charge and the 6-cell battery doesn't stick out the rear like other netbooks. It's compatible with SDHC (not just SD) cards, which is great if you have a SDHC type flash recording camcorder. It takes only around 30 seconds to boot up and I don't really see a need to upgrade the 1GB memory while using Windows XP. It will enter/exit hibernation in about 5 seconds and the programs I've used so far continue to run properly after exiting hibernation. I've considered netbooks with a larger 12.1" screen but 10.2" is definitely sufficient and makes the NC10 very portable. Also, I considered the Toshiba netbook which also has a nice keyboard but it has a glossy/reflective screen and the Bluetooth feature adds to the price. Overall, I'm very impressed and that doesn't happen often.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This is to date the best little computer available right now. The battery life is amazing. I received the little beast and immediately liked it. Software loaded flawlessly. Samsung did a great job. It has three SUB Ports, a very handy feature. I use one for the receiver for a Logitech 470 lazer mouse. That leaves two for printers, remote disc drive/burner, Etc.. Samsung's remote drive also works great.
Samsung's monitor switching software works well with just "Function F4" you can use a nice big CRT. Unit also has a VGA port, audio in and out built in video camera, memory card port, ethernet port and a real hard drive ( not digital/flash ). This one great little machine. I think if you do the research you'll agree.
Standard battery seems to last an honest 6hours. I also purchased a extra battery that is supposed to last up to 11 hours. It probably will too. I just haven't timed it yet. 10.2 inch is spark and clean. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

I debated a long time between a netbook and an iPhone. As cool as the iPhone is, the screen is just too small for these aging eyes. And I already have a phone, and can't see paying for two, even if only for a couple of months.

Once I decided on a netbook I was torn between the Dell, the HP and this one. I looked at the Acer and Asus, but decided there were too many problems with screens, power, etc. The Dell, HP and Samsung are very close in features. I love Dell (I have one at work and at home), but there were a couple of things that kept me from going that way - - 1. Customizing the Dell made the price go up significantly (I just love bells and whistles) and 2. Customer Service! Dell is great as long as there are no problems, but if you are unlucky and there is a problem, Dell's customer service STINKS! HP is no better, so I decided on the Samsung (great price and Customer Service has been fine with the TV we own).

Just got my "Sammy" a couple of days ago. I love it! I knew that no netbook comes with a internal cd player, so I would have to buy an external one (I got the Samsung in the same color blue). But this makes it very light, even with the battery in! And the battery really does last a long time (over 7 hrs, better than both Dell and HP). And I love the keyboard, so much like my full size one that I hardly notice the difference.

I bought my Sammy through Amazon purposely. I might have been able to get a better price somewhere else, but I haven't found better Customer Service anywhere!!! IF there are any problems in the future, I know Amazon will take care of me.

It's only been a couple of days but I am very happy with my Sammy. I think I made the right choice for me.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Save Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I am hooked on this netbooks. I have done some research on this matter comparing between Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and the Samsung. I have read many reviews by others.

First of all, lighter the better. Therefore, it must be less than 3 lbs. Otherwise, it is just a small notebook and not a true "netbook".

Second. The longer the battery life the better, since this allows you to not to have to carry your power cord. Therefore, I would suggest the 6 cell battery netbooks.

Third. Screen size. 10 inch is better than 9 inch by two fold. As many of you have reviewed. 9 inch many be little too small for most adults unless you are less than 120 lbs.

Fourth. Quality matters. Samsung > Lenovo > HP > Dell > Acer > Asus, in that order in my humble opinion.

Fifth. Price matters. Asus < Acer < Lenovo < Samsung < HP < Dell, If you add the similar features.

I don't know about you, but I want a quality product at a reasonable price, therefore, I am going with the Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2-inch Netbook with 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery with 8 hour battery life, XP Home for $485. Cheap Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The best netbook on the market at present. The 10" form factor is small enough to be portable but big enough to comfortably view and type on. I considered the MSI Wind and ASUS 10" netbooks, but the Samsung seemed worth the higher price for the better keyboard layout and better looks and more solid case. The 6 cell battery makes it weigh a little more than I'd like, but getting 6+ hours out of the battery is worth it.

PROS
Great keyboard, Superior build quality, good camera, speakers, battery, screen. Even has VGA Out, 3 USB Ports, and an SD Card Slot (Take that MacBook Air!)

CONS/Quibbles (none significant)
Single mouse button that rocks left and right and is a bit too firm, Trackpad could be a little bigger, Comes with annoying trial McAfee anti-virus, otherwise clean design marred by "Digital Motion Camera" label above screen.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buying Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The battery life is what really get people to buy this Samsung NC10. I personally like the the design and the smaller size of the Lenovo 10" s10 more than this Samsung. It's too bad the Lenovo is only a 3 cell so I didn't get it. The chrome plated on this Samsung looks cheap to me but as far as functionality and performance, I can't complain. I would suggest upgrade the ram to 2gig since ram are so cheap now and set as "Windows Classic Skin" for faster performance.

PROS: 6 cell battery, 2gig ram EZ Access Upgradable, big keyboard, matt (no glare) finish screen, Windows XP doesn't run as sluggest on this Samsung as the Acer Aspire One, powerful enough to run Office, Photoshop, and a great DJ Laptop (Can handle Serato, Traktor, Deckadance, Mixvibes, Virtual DJ, etc.)

CONS: A tad big for a 10" netbook compares to the Lenovo s10, ugly cheap looking chrome plated design. The white matt finish can be a dirt magnet.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This being my first netbook, I was unsure what to think about this machine. I bought it as an on-the-go Ubuntu running computer to lessen the time that my $2500 Mac laptop spends on the road.

The build quality is solid. I'm not worried about scratching or pieces falling off. The one spot that I'm a bit annoyed at as far as physical design is the mouse button. It rocks back and forth when clicking and feels a bit silly.

The keyboard is the real star of this computer. It's NOT full size, but it's big enough that it's hard to tell the difference. I'm not sure what "silver" does for cleanliness, but I'm sure it's great [as a buzzword]. I'm a Dvorak keyboard user, so it was important to me to find a netbook that has a standard keyboard layout with all square keys so that it can be rearranged. This machine is one of the few that I've seen that fits the bill, and it rearranged perfectly.

As far as Ubuntu goes, I think that a few updates need to be created before the user experience will be seamless, but it's not terrible. There is no trouble for experienced users. Wireless doesn't work out of the box. I had to compile a driver and get the driver to auto-load and unload on sleep. Sound has a small issue where the speakers don't shut off when headphones are plugged in, but there's a fix around for this. Finally, the display brightness is a bit of an issue. Brightness has to be set before the OS boots up and then can be adjusted in the OS. If the brightness is low when the OS boots, that's the highest brightness that it can achieve. The brightness, wireless, overclock, trackpad, and battery keys do not work. I don't see this as a big issue. Keep in mind that these things are just problems with Ubuntu running on the machine right now as of Ubuntu 8.10's release. I'm not changing my five star rating based on Ubuntu's problems.

I'm quite happy with my purchase of this computer, and I hope to get quite a lot of use out of it.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Order Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

OVERVIEW
Let me start by saying I wanted the blue one because I felt like white would be too cheap looking. White isn't my first choice for a laptop color, but i think this is passable. I decided to take the white one rather than wait around for whenever the blue one is released.

I love this machine. The day-to-day tasks are peppy and it behaves like a normal Windows XP machine. I have purchased a RAM upgrade and am waiting for my 2GB stick to arrive, but I have been using it with the 1GB installed and haven't had any issues. The main uses for this machine I see are internet, office, and other such basic tasks. However, I also maintain a couple websites and was able to install Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and noticed no difference in performance on this machine from my powerful desktop.

The fit and finish are excellent. Keyboard keys are sturdy and snappy. The USB ports are tight, in a good way, and provide a sense of quality when you plug things in. The screen is bright, bright enough that I often dim it a notch or two due to eye fatigue (which is normally not a problem for me).

CONS
Trying to find faults in this machine is like trying to find faults in a BMW 7 series, sure there are nit-picky things you can point out, but come on, it's a 7 series! Having said that...

Screen size. This being my first netbook the size of the screen takes a little getting used to. My problem with the screen is that it is slightly too short in height. To combat this I simply made my taskbar autohide, what I normally do not do, but without this, the main window pane seemed pinched what with the menu bars, tool bars, and task bar taking up roughly 1 inch of screen real estate.

Touch pad. The touch pad is pretty short (up and down) so some adjustments needed to be made to the pointer speed and momentum to get it up and down without retreading over and over. Ultimately I find it much easier to just use a wireless mouse (I'd recommend the Logitech VX Nano). What I wish is that Samsung had used the extra space above and below the touchpad to simply increase its size. If it were 1/4" taller the touchpad would be just fine.

Weight. It is light, but because it's small it seems dense. This means for me that its weight/size ratio means that it feels heavy. By no means would I say it is heavy, but i think it is heavier than it may appear at first glance. It is still very light for a laptop, even lighter than the Macbook Air (albeit a smaller form factor).

PROS
Speed. Speedy laptop. It gets the job done.

Battery. I tested it out today. I teach high school and used this laptop to take attendance and record grades in each of my classes. I started it up around 7:50am and had it turned on most of the day. Periodically I would put it in sleep mode, or allow the power save mode to turn off the lcd. I also turned off the backlight when I got up to walk away from time-to-time. However, the NC10 made it from 8am all the way to 3pm without shutting down due to lack of power. And I had the backlight on 6 or 7 out of 8 the entire time and I had to connect to the internet on a regular basis so wifi was on the entire time. I am confident that if I took this on a plane with me I could play 2 or 3 movies before my battery dies. This was a huge selling point for me. Most other netbooks have similar features but many lack the 6-cell battery.

Hard drive. The response time is peppy. No noticible lag when accessing the hard drive or save large files. Having 160GB hard drive is important to me. I also plan on adding 32GB via a SD card for additional storage. With all the windows updates, office 2003, macromedia suite 8, and various other applications, along with 30 gb of music, I have about 100GB left over for data.

CUSTOMIZING IT
As with all laptops, this one comes preinstalled with a bunch of stuff you may or may not want. I like more control than some of these applications offer. Also, the computer starts out by partitioning the hard drive to split it in half. You can control how much you want to assign to each partition, and it says you can even set it to eliminate the partitioning, but I was unable to figure this out. When I went through the process I couldn't get mine to leave it as one big drive. So it ended up splitting it in half. After I did this I decided I didn't like it that way and wanted to fix it.

Here's what I did:
1. With the help of an external DVD drive, I put the recovery disk in (while logged in to windows) and gave it the option to reinstall windows
2. It started the process and then rebooted and then I had the option to boot from a disk. I did that and the computer stopped at the typical Windows XP installation interface.
3. From there I was able to delete the D partition and the small, hidden recovery partition (about 6 gb) to allow the C partition to take over all 160gb of the hard drive
4. I deleted the C partition and then reformatted it as one drive
5. Then it installed windows to the new C drive
6. Followed setup process and voila! New clean Windows XP machine
7. Once i was back in windows I put in the software disk that has all the samsung programs and installed those which I wanted. It's important to install the video and audio drivers so the function keys work with the speaker volume and backlight controls.
8. Finished by installing whatever applications I wanted and updating windows and office

enjoy.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The Samsung NC10 is clearly the best netbook on the market right now. As a previous owner of the Asus 1000h I can say that this notebook beats the 1000h easily. While the specs for both laptops are very similar, where the NC10 excels is the keyboard. The NC10 probably has best keyboard of all the netbooks. Most of the keys are also naturally placed unlike how the 1000h is missing the right "shift" key which really bothered me. Another area where the NC10 beats the 1000h is the touchpad and the touchpad buttons itself. Even though the Samsung has a single button for both functions it presses really easily and is not ultra stiff like the 1000h I had and the touchpad sensitivity is alot better than the 1000h.

The NC10 also has great styling and feels very sturdy with 3 usb ports in addition to a sd card slot. It has virtually no noise and it barely gets warm. In fact as I am writing this review right now, the bottom of NC10 actually feels cool to the touch. The screen is very bright and the best selling point of the NC10 is the ridiculously long battery life. You can easily get more than 7 HOURS on this netbook. If you dim the bright screen down you can probably push 8 hours. The hard drive and processor feels quick and boot up time is around 20-30 seconds.

While I am extremely pleased with the NC10 there is one thing that was rather lacking for this netbook. The speakers seem to be situated at the bottom of the laptop and is very low. Even when I max out the volume, I can barely hear most of the audio that's playing unless you are in a very quiet room.

All in all this is a great purchase and is alot better than the rival Asus 1000h. The weak speakers on the bottom and the small touchpad is worth the sacrifice for the better keyboard and ultra long battery life.

USER BACKGROUND:
I've been involved with PC's since PC's came into existence. Through the years I've owned a wide range of notebooks from luggables, desktop replacements, to travel companions (currently I own a couple of 12" touch screen tablets and two HP 20" HDX media notebooks used as desktop replacements). I was ready for a new travel notebook and started to follow the evolving "Netbook" category. As in the past, I was faced with a substantial expenditure (several thousand dollars) to get one of the current higher end travel notebooks that would meet my general laptop requirements; a light, relatively powerful, good battery life and compact design. The evolving +/- $500 Netbook category piqued my curiosity and I started to read reviews and study the new product offerings including their upgradability potential, or lack thereof.

INTENDED USE:
In my experience, most air travelers use a laptop similar to myself, web browsing, email, and light office applications (word, excel, etc); or in other words the "Netbook" categories target market.

REQUIREMENTS:
On occasion I take long trips across the country (8 to 10 hour block to block) and I wanted my new purchase to provide a single charge that would last through that day's journey; no spare batteries or AC adapter in tow. A typical trip for me begins at the departure gate and firing up the notebook for a little catch-up computing while waiting for departure. Once airborne and settled in, I pull my notebook out for some on-board work. Upon arriving at my connection stop I either head to a travel lounge or the departure gate and get on-line once again. On the last flight leg, I'll generally pull out my notebook for some additional in-air use before getting to my destination.

My target requirements:
1. Light weight & Compact foot-print
2. Long battery life
3. 10" - 12" screen size, 1024x600 minimum resolution and bright
4. Reasonable processing power for intended use
5. Windows XP Pro
6. 2 GB of memory and a 320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive

MY NETBOOK SELECTION:
I purchased the "Samsung NC10" and I'M VERY IMPRESSED! I pre-ordered from Amazon.com and received the unit on 11/19/08. I settled on the white version since I'm not a fan of black keyboards which the NC10's blue and black color options sport. With the modifications discussed below, this little machine exceeds my overall expectations and is everything the various reviewers have analyzed and discussed to date. Most reviewers consider the keyboard on the NC10 the best in category, but since I'm not a touch typist that wasn't one of my hot buttons, however the key board is large, solid, and pleasant to use.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
The standard NC10 came closest to my purchase specs for light weight; it's under 3 lbs, long battery life; it seems Samsung's targeted 6 - 8 hours of battery life is doable (I've hit 6+ hours using disk, WiFi and toned down screen brightness). The 10.2" screen is very bright and clear with 1024x600 resolutions; it helps to auto-hide the taskbar to buy a little more screen real estate. The unit is very compact and like most Netbooks its projected area is smaller then an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper and the closed clamshell is 1" thick. The standard unit arrives with XP Home, 1 GB memory and a 160 GB 5400 rpm drive. The NC10 feels solid, build quality (inside and out) are excellent and out of the box the unit was responsive and fairly snappy. I have two WiFi access points in my home and the NC10's WiFi card picked both up with excellent reception and through-put; I also tried my Sprint USB broadband adapter with equally satisfactory results.

THE UPGRADES:
Like most engineering types; "If its not broke, take it apart and fix it anyway". I've read the reviews and knew the memory and hard disk could be easily be upgraded (given a little bit of prior experience and some hardware finesse). I went to my preferred parts supplier, Newegg, and purchased a 2GB stick of RAM for $32 and a 7200 rpm 320 GB disk drive for $100. I also picked-up a nice Netbook carrying case by Caselogic for $12 with my Amazon order. I used Apricon's EZ Upgrade Kit to image the units' standard 160 GB disk and then put it on the shelf as the failsafe backup. It took me about 10 minutes to take the unit apart and upgrade the components. I then prepared a Windows XP Pro DVD slipstreamed with SP3, repartitioned the disk, reinstalled the operating system and all the Samsung drivers and application software. Samsung did an excellent job of putting all the NC10's drivers and application software on their technical support web page. The overall result of these upgrades makes a noticeable improvement in overall performance. I'm very pleased with the final results for this tweaked, travel ready road machine (an example: standard boot time to WiFi connection is about 90 seconds, however I use hibernation on my notebooks and the machine will boot-up to WiFi connected status in 25 seconds).

NETBOOKS FUTURE:
I agree with many of the industry and media experts who have editorialized on the Netbook phenomena. Netbooks will continue to be a significant new growth segment in the overall notebook category. The manufactures have an interesting dilemma however; Netbooks will also continue to cut into sales of the higher margin, costlier tier of their notebook offerings. Feature creep is probably going to be the manufactures biggest marketing challenge; the temptation to seek product differentiation by adding larger screens, faster processors (central & graphics), more IO, etc., all tending to increase price, size, weight, and cut into battery life. If you examine your real world use and expectations you may have the same epiphany I have had; these little Netbooks are excellent solutions vs. the more expensive traditional notebook offerings. With a couple of easy inexpensive tweaks, the "Samsung NC10" is a home run!

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review

I previously owned one of the 1st gen 7" Asus Eee machines, and an Acer Aspire One netbook, and I can definitely say that this is the best machine of the bunch !

I purchased the white one, since the blue one seems to be on backorder forever. The matte screen is nice and easy to read, the keyboard is AWESOME - I can touch type without any issues whatsoever. Battery life is incredible - I am easily getting 6 or 7 hours a charge, without paying attention to conserving power at all. Also, one of the things I like the most is that the balance is right - there is enough weight below the keyboard that it wants to sit like a regular notebook. On the Acer Aspire One, the screen weighs about as much as the keyboard, so it always wants to tip back... Another minor positive is that the slip case is better than the Acer Aspire one - it's sort of a fake-suede bag with a flip cover. Finally, it came with very little bloatware on it - I uninstalled the trial of McCafee and installed the free AVG antivirus software, and that's about it...

This is a very slick little machine. If you can handle the extra weight vs. the 9" models like the Acer Aspire One, this seems to be about as good as it gets !Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Top Quality

As many have already said, the Samsung NC10 is a great machine. The size is just right, the screen bezel doesn't appear to be huge as on other netbooks, and the keyboard is excellent. The keys are a bit stiffer than I am used to, but they have a comfortable amount of travel and I am able to touch type without difficulty. The only real issue I have with the keyboard is the need to press Fn to use End and Home keys, but I suspect every netbook would suffer this fate due to lack of space. I appreciate the standard key layout of the NC10, as this was one of my concerns about the ASUS 1000ha and the soon to be released 1002ha. I am a heavy right shift key user and am pleased that Samsung didn't mess with it.

I compared this with an Acer Aspire One (AAO) from a local store, and I am completely satisfied with choosing the Samsung. The AAO was also a great machine, but the difference is really in the keyboard. That and the Samsung has a matte finish screen which is appreciated in public places for the lack of glare. The brightness is sufficient and as many have said, the battery life is great. I also think the Samsung runs quieter than the AAO does.

The NC10 comes with a bunch of Samsung utilities, but to be honest I haven't really messed with them. I removed the only trial software that I noticed, McAfee, and that's about it. I loaded some software over my home network and have been good to go. The only complaint about software is the lack of updates loaded out of the box. It comes with IE 6 so you have to load IE 7 and the multitude of updates that come along with it. I also loaded Chrome and soon will load Firefox and everything works as expected thus far. The speed is sufficient, I would say it is faster than my old Pentium M 2.0 GHz, 1GB RAM, laptop. I watched the latest episode of Heroes on [...] without stutter so I am pleased about that.

Lastly, thank you Samsung for not making the exterior surface shiny and for putting the mouse button where it is supposed to be. The AAO looked terrible with the shiny surfaces while the NC10 doesn't get all gummed up with fingerprints like the AAO does. It may seem like a minor issue but it really is an annoyance with how dirty the AAO and other shiny netbooks appear to be. Although I primarily tap to click, the existence of a proper mouse button below the track pad is a huge bonus. Actually, this is the main reason I didn't even consider the new HP Mini 1000 as I didn't really care for that design on the AAO either.

Overall, this is the one to get!Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery This instant

This netbook was a replacement from Acer Inspire One which came with an incorrect keyboard layout. Return to Amazon for refund. I'm glad I did, this Samsung is awesome. Just received my "Blue" Samsung NC10 today. Don't understand why the Blue netbook is $20 more than the White netbook. Initial setup took about 10 minutes to get to Start menu. The only fault I could find would be the speakers, they OK. Was not expecting 5:1 surround sound. The fan is absolutely quite and the netbook was almost cold. My HP notebook get way warmer. If your planning on removing McAfee, do this before connecting to the Net else it installs automatically. I replace this with AVG security. There is no MS office or Works 30 days trials, just some Samsung software like User Guide, Update Plus, Network manager. I decided to keep mine. Of all the reviews I have read there were only four minor consistent complaints:

1. Blue color not available. Available now.
2. Speakers not the greatest. No 5:1 surround, but OK.
3. Scroll pad to small. It's a netbook not notebook.
4. Single touch pad bar. Dislike at first, Tried it and now I like it.

The main things I love is the battery life, keyboard layout, matted finish, the overall look & design. I would say this is the most perfect Netbook on the market today.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Immediately

The Sammy looks better than it performs. I had the Acer Aspire One and returned it for the same reason the Samsung I just purchased is going back. The friggen Atheros wireless card is flawed. I also tried the MSI Wind 432. With the exception of the balance issue with the MSI, it was otherwise a better performer than the Samsung. I suspect this is a function of bloatware on the Samsung. If I had to do over and the Samsung had an Intel wireless card, I would buy the white over the blue. If the blue came in a matte finish that might tilt the scales. The blue is not a saphire blue but more a dark baby blue. Too tired to go into a lot more detail. Just want to alert those that need reliable wireless that the Atheros is known to have issues.

Edit 12/4

Desperate to get the wireless functioning properly, I opened the case and replaced the Atheros with an Intel 4965 AGN wireless card. No more warranty and still no reliable ad hoc network connectivity. The Sammy will not recognize the Intel card. I also upgraded the RAM to 2 gigs. The back of Sammy has a slot in the case for what is rumored to be a 3G modem slot. Evidently, they are shipping Europe now. For the majority who do not need peer to peer or ad hoc, this is a lovely machine. Heading back to the world of MSI.

Two finger scrolling with this trackpad is possible. Surfing on my Mac is made so much easier with two finger scrolling, I felt this feature would make this netbook much easier to navigate. With the netbook's smaller screen and trackpad, I finally found software that actually works well for the Samsung NC10. For those that don't know what two finger scrolling is, you simply use drag two fingers up or down on the trackpad to scroll the screen. Here is where you can download the free software. http://code.google.com/p/two-finger-scroll/

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Get it now!

Preordered from Amazon on Oct. 19 with delivery on Dec. 1. The wait was worth it. Upgraded memory to 2GB, although performance was adequate with 1GB.

This will replace my Dell 1420 as my primary laptop. It'll save a lot of weight and hassle without any real sacrifice.

Pros:
Size and weight.
Runs all normal office apps acceptibly.
6-cell battery--long battery life.
Bluetooth--don't need usb receiver for mouse
Keyboard--good size, feel, and layout

Cons:
Touchpad--flush with wrist-rest. Almost no tactile clues that your finger is sliding off the touchpad (which is small).
600 pixel vertical resolution. Standard for netbooks, but when running an app like Word 2007 with ribbon, leaves very little space for working.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Like some other reviewers, I've been researching for a netbook for a while comparing laptops from the Asus eee 900/1000 series, Acer Aspire One, MSI Wind, Dell Mini, HP, Lenovo and so and I've come to a conclusion that the Samsung has to be the best one. I'm using the blue Samsung NC10 typing this review and the keyboard works almost as smoothly as a regular keyboard.
Pros: -Battery life(6-8 hours)
- Nice keyboard feel
- Bright, crisp screen
- Easy upgradeable memory(2GB)
- 10' screen a +

Cons: - The trackpad is a bit hard to get used to
- $500 price tag
- No tilting beyond 45 degrees back
- Built in speakers low volume

Conclusion: I was considering the Acer Aspire One as probably the closest resemblance to this netbook but this outshines the Acer in many ways. The most notable is its keyboard and screen. If your looking for one of the longest lasting netbooks out there with a great keyboard, a great screen, and don't mind spending a bit more than regular, get this one you won't regret it. Also, please take consideration in getting more than a 3 cell battery because they last only 2-3 hours when a netbook should be lasting you all day. Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Order Now

After doing a lot of research on netbooks, I settled on the NC10 because of its consistently excellent reviews. I couldn't be happier.

It's light weight, beautifully designed, a fantastic keyboard, is just as fast as my Vista desktop, and so far has handled everything I have thrown at it.

I've loaded it up with all of the programs I plan on using on the little thing and it's handled everything extremely well so far. All of the programs load just as fast as more powerful laptops.

The keyboard is very nice. Great feel, and great size. You have to get used to it being smaller, but it doesn't take long at all.

The wireless is very fast. It blows my older laptop away. You can download videos flawlessly. I downloaded most of my programs and had them installed in less than an hour.

I can't complain about a single thing with this machine. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Oh, and a lot of people have upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM, but so far the included 1 gig is working very nicely. I don't see any reason to upgrade at this point.

Well done Samsung.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Right now

This is the computer I've been waiting for! I'm a small business person and a busy Mom. I constantly run between the office, between the kids' activities and between appointments in helping my parents. While I own a smartphone, I got frustrated in not being able to type long memos with it while I was on the go. The netbook is perfect. I can fit it in my purse easily, and work just about anywhere. I'm a speed typist, and the keyboard is very comfortable. I did own a 8.9 computer previously, and its keyboard, as well as the screen, was way too small. The 10 inch netbook is just right, and the screen is very clear. The NC10 is very fast, and there's lots of storage on the hard drive. When I close the computer and reopen the cover, it goes back to where I was working in seconds.

I got a white model. The machine looks clean and sharp to me. And I know it passes the cool factor when my teenage sons also want one. We've been watching videos on it from Sling.com and YouTube all moring with no problems at all, and I did not have to add extra memory to it. It also connects to WIFI easily.

I admit, it is not a machine for heavy graphics, and it does not have a CD or DVD drive, but if you add a laptop internet card, it is perfect for surfing the web and sending out e-mails on the go almost anywhere. And I can run around all day without plugging it in with its 6 hour battery, which is great for when you have to sit forever in a doctor's office or wait on the sidelines for your kid to finish soccer practice. I looked at other models, as well as more expensive ones with a CD drive, but for the money, I am very happy with this little computer.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Lowest Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

This has been one of the best laptops I've ever used, and among netbooks, this is the only one I'm not annoyed on a regular basis by. The atom n270 is very quick for running basic applications and word processing. The keyboard is very nice with one tiny problem; I occasionally hit caps lock when I want an A. The integrated bluetooth and widcomm drivers work fine for sending and receiving files and audio, the sound card is fine for listening to music and watching videos, the webcam works fine in both skype and google talk, The microphone is adequate, the battery life really is eight hours, I was able to eek out 8 hours 14 minutes with wifi off and the backlight low. With regular settings, the battery will pull off a rather good seven hours and with everything running at maximum it still does five. The SD card slot has worked fine and the hinge stays steady. With the exception of the caps lock key, this is the perfect laptop for the power user looking for something to tide themselves over during the day in place of a desktop or larger laptop. Among windows machines, I've never seen a faster BIOS, which loads up in well under a second. Total boot time from hibernation is about 25 seconds. Also, the Fn key commands on the function keys and arrow keys are reasonably intuitive. However, I can't recommend this for anyone who has large fingers or dislikes small screens. My friends call it the smurf laptop, and I now dance around macbook users with my extra battery life. This is as close to perfection as laptops ever get. Low Price Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I have had the computer for 3 days. I took a long time doing research on net books. finally I did click on "order now" and I think I made the right decision. (blue which is nice)

The real advantages of this samsung are that you get a normal sized keyboard, a usable screen and to date about 6hrs battery life (at least if you turn off the wifi and use for word processing).

It was about $100 more than the sweet spot of most of the cheaper netbooks at $380ish.

But in the end if you type, the smaller ones are unlikely to be versitile enough. I think anything smaller would be frustrating for any more than occasional surfing ... I can type comfortably on it for hours.

This clearly a very good computer - powerful enough for me and a good mouse pad .. well designed key board etc.

I like it.

When I purchased this product, I previously had bought an ipod touch for a nice chunk of money. It was a fun product, but it dawned on me that i'll be able to get more use out of a netbook than the ipod. So I looked into it and decided that among the other netbook providers out there, the Samsung NC 10 would be for me. It's made by Samsung and is very upgradeable. I plan on adding extra ram and a bigger hard drive. Let me tell you that I simply love this thing and you won't be disappointed with the purchase.

Being able to have this sleek computer with me wherever I go has afforded me the entertainment value that an ipod simply wouldn't have. I'm very happy that I plumped down the money I would have spent on an ipod on the puppy.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Discount Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I bought the blue one from Amazon after reading all the positive reviews. It's been about 2 weeks now and I overall I like this little netbook book. All the positives that were pointed out by the other reviewers are true (great keyboard, battery life, and sharp, bright screen). However, as for the build quality, I was rather disappointed. The chassis creaks as you are handling normally (like picking it up) which means the chassis isn't rigid. When you lift open the screen (with your thumb just above the webcam), it creaks and you can even feel the plastic frame move. Perhaps it may just be my unit, but I doubt that. If there is one, there are bound to be others. I am rather annoyed at this. Can you feel my annoyance??? Grrr... So, buyer beware.

Oh, one last thing, the touch pad is too small, but I am sure you all know that. I had to disable horizontal scrolling and re-map the vertical scrolling to an extra narrow width. Or else, the scrolling triggers a lot which causes the mouse to stop moving when you don't want it to.

Update: Well, it has be a while since I first posted my review. Yes, the creaking is still there, but this little beauty does what it was designed to do which is surf the internet. And I do this alot. The battery is pretty robust. I haven't timed myself, but I average a good five hours at least with the LCD set to 2 bars brightness. I only surf and watch the occasional Youtube videos. I don't play games on it and I try not to install too many programs or plug-ins. Boot up is speedy. But I have noticed that shutting down is slower than before. Maybe it is due to one of the programs that I had installed. To sum up, I am happy with my purchase despite all the creaks. Cheapest Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I had trouble using this product in the way I wanted. I wanted to use it to surf the net while watching tv and sitting around. The problem is that you can really only use this mini laptop on a coffee table or other flat surface. For example, I couldn't lay on my couch and rest it on my belly. However, when resting it on my coffee table, I had to squint to see the small screen and bend the screen nearly all the way back to view it (I'm tall). After a few days of this, I got fed up and decided to return it. Amazon gave excellent service during the return process, and I ordered an ipod touch. While the ipod touch is not a full computer, it performs nearly all of the functions of a netbook and is better for lounging around. I can bring the ipod touch right up to my face, so I don't need to squint. This is a good product, but you need to consider exactly how you will be using it.

Pros:
-Keyboard felt natural
-Good Build Quality
-Charges battery quickly
-I got about 6:30 battery life while surfing the net
-Battery indicator is very accurate
-System controls for battery, display, speed, etc. were well done
-The design was well though out
-System is sufficiently speedy and was faster at some tasks than my 8 year old pc.

Cons:
-Mousepad is much too small. I could barely get the pointer across the screen in one motion even on the highest sensitivity.
-White plastic looks to shiny. The should have just gone with plain white plastic. It's not exactly white, it's slightly darker and more metallic than "ipod white". It looks girly.
-Screen contrast ratio is terrible. My 3 year old 19" LCD on my pc looks much better, especially the black levels.
-Screen is not tall -> had to bend it far back to get a good viewing angle
-Metal trim looks out of place
-The speakers sounded horrible. They sound like headphones being played in an open air room at a loud volume. I was planning on storing 30GB of music on the machine, but the speakers just didn't make it a feasible music machine. So I wonder why these machines even need 160GB of storage if music sounds so bad on them. There is a headphone mode as well, but even the music through headphones does not sound good. I'd say the quality is a little lower than my ipod.
-Scrolling function is tricky. I wish they would have just put a small scrolling wheel somewhere on the machine, if that is possible.
-I had trouble using it on my couch and in bed. Ipod touch is much better in this regard.
-It feels heavier than I thought it would. Its similar to carrying a textbook around.
-It's portability is wasted for me. I would have to drive to anywhere I would want to use it anyway. So it's size is really irrelevant to me. For women, I would imagine it would only fit into a large bag as it's the size of a textbook. This is another example of the ipod touch beating a netbook. The only reason I could see to get one of these machines is if you live near a coffee shop and plan on walking there. Otherwise it makes no sense to get this machine over a cheap 14" laptop or an ipod touch.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Cheap Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

As a Mac user, I was very intrigued by the popularity of NetBooks. After researching the plenitude of 10" models and some 8.9" ones, after reading reviewers comments about the netbooks they own, after test driving a few floor models from electronics stores such as Best Buy, Frye's Electronics, and Radio Shack, I've come to the conclusion the Samsung NC10 was the NetBook to get. When comparing all the other models, most NetBooks come with similar features such as a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, 2 or 3 USB ports, media card readers, WiFi, 1GB Ram, 160GB Hard Drive (often times smaller capacities are equipped), VGA port, 1.3MP cameras, under 3 lbs., smallish trackpads (the nature of NetBooks), and FastEthernet.

What sets the Samsung apart from the rest are the included 6-cell battery and the awesome keyboard. The keyboard has a nice positive feel and it doesn't feel cramped at all. The MSI Wind, my second choice, is a strong performer but the Samsung's longer battery life was the deal breaker. A couple of nice features that come standard are Bluetooth and a Matte screen display (less glare).

In terms of performance, its standard 1GB RAM is sufficient. I can get about 5 and half hours of normal use - checking email, WiFi on, listening to iTunes radio streaming, and downloading books from Sony's ebook store. If I were a little more frugal, say WiFi on and surfing the net and nothing else, I could get over 6 hours. The Samsung's battery performance is phenomenal. My Black MacBook's normal usage gets about 3 hours.

Two minor complaints are the trackpad and the media card reader. The trackpad, as with most NetBooks, is small. You run out of room when dragging anything. The texture is the same as the palm rest, lending confusion to using the trackpad. I purchased a Verbatim portable Bluetooth laser mouse and all my niggles went away. The other small gripe is the media card reader. When an SD card is inserted it sticks out a little bit. If you leave it in the reader, you have to be careful when transporting your NC-10. Otherwise you run the risk of damaging the card reader, the computer, or both.

If Apple came out with a NetBook, I would be all over it. As it stands, the Samsung NC-10 is the best out there so far. Pound for pound, it has all the features I wanted and needed. It's also a good looking NetBook with a cool chrome accent on the side - especially in a deep metallic blue. It's not the smallest or the lightest Netbook, but the Samsung hits the sweet spot in terms of performance, size, and features. Despite the 8 year old Windows XP, it's a winner.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Buying Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

The Samsung NC10 has a lot of nice features for a netbook but you have to realize that the Intel Atom Processor is weak, weak, weak. Streaming internet video is choppy (even with 2 GB of RAM) and it is extremely slow compared to the Centrino Core 2 Duos. Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1EHRFQSTE9GKU Here is a 9 minute review of the NC10. I thought it would be a bit more exciting to see it in action and my first thoughts. I've put in a few size comparisons that helps get the feel of it.

I really love the whole experience of owning one of these. The battery life is amazing with 7 hours and more. The experience of daily surfing on the go in style is so helpful and enjoyable. If you are on the go and have time between appointments it can really change the way you do business online. You can display products to anyone, learn Tai Chi outside or just in your mind. Just brilliant.

Link to another product used in video. The Tai Chi DVD is only available in the PAL Format for now at Amazon UK. Next year 2nd quarter 2009 for AMAZON.COM.

Purchase Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I purchased the NC10 from amazon after doing quite a bit of research, I went to several stores to try out different netbooks though no one locally carried the Samsung so I bought it based on reviews and what i did and didn't like about other Netbooks...
Best Warranty, 3 years parts and labor plus you get 3 months extra for registering your purchase on samsung support website. (there is some confusion as samsung website and seller sites say 1 year but the warranty card inside clearly states 3 years.. go to sammynetbook dot com for more info.
Best screen. matte superbright LED backlit screen. 10 inch is a must.. the 8.9 inch screens and keyboards were just too small for me.
Excellent battery life
Has bluetooth and SD card slot.
near fullsize keyboard that is easy to touchtype on with a standard size and location of the right shift key...
I upgraded to 2gb of samsung DDR 2 800Mhz ram.. with no issues though the chipset does not currently run at that speed. maybe they will later with a bios upgrade ...
touchpad buttons in standard place on bottom not on the sides.
Only negative is the touchpad is not that great.
EDIT: I installed "twofingerscroll" a freeware program and it really improved the function of the track pad. very easy and resopnsive scrolling and turning off the scroll bars as you won't need them with this program makes the useable trackpad space larger.... definitely a good fix for the only negative I have found with this netbook so farGet more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Order Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I ordered an Accer Aspire One but returned it because I read some reviews that said the Samsung had a better screen and keyboard. The Samsung NC10 can also be upgrade another full Gigabyte instead of only a Half Gig like the Acer. I will wait awhile before doing the upgrade because my NC10 with 1 Gig is just As fast , if not faster than my Dell Inspiron E1405 with 3 Gigs running Vista. It has plenty of ports to connect devices and has bluetooth connectivity. This is my ninth laptop. I have never owned a desktop. Six years ago I bought a Toshiba with the fifteen inch screen. Everyone just loved it. I found myself only carrying it to work about one or two days per week so about two years ago I went to a DELL with the 14 in screen. I teach four or five classes at a local university and often have to carry two or three textbooks. I have developed arthritis in my knees and it is difficult lugging a laptop and several books around. Now I can scan my chapters in that I need for the day and carry my Samsung and roll book. Samsung, my 55 year old knees and back thank you. Now going to conferences will be easier and if I get bored between classes I can surf the net or grade my students work that they post online.

Yours truly,
Franklin Witherspoon, Ph.D.

Where To Buy Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

Very neat. I am impressed with this little note book. Blue is a very nice look. It is very fast, and very easy to setup. Wifi great. The only thing is that you will have to purchase an external cd/dvd drive to go with it. Besides that it is excelent to take with you anywhere because of its size and weight,it even fits on the airplanes food trays without and problem. However, if this is going to be your only computer, that is no main desktop at home, then you may desire a larger computer with dvd/cd/disk drives. Returned my beloved Aspire One to Amazon for several of the well documented problems it is know for. Amazon was amazing as always and gave me NO hassle, NONE! Nobody else gives you this protection, especially in electronics.
So I bought this Samsung someplace else (eggs ring a bell?)and for more money as Amazon sold out that day. It was love at first week and second week then I noticed something. In the lower left of this beautiful NON glare screen I see two "eyes" looking at me while reading! On a screen of any color, you will see 2 eyeball size BLOTCHES" LOOKING BACK AT YOU....a HEART BREAKER for me as the difference in this computer over the Aspire One is simply amazing. NO comparison. I can't even hear this one, it runs cool and silent. The engineering is SO much better thought out. How can Samsung have a screen problem???? It took me less that 3 minutes to upgrade to RAM to 2 megs, it is fast, I just love it but this screen problem disturbs me.
So Samsung wants me to send it back into some 3rd party repair facility in Texas! Nobody here or the UK has got theirs back yet so I am waiting to see how it goes BEFORE giving mine up. And it seems nearly everyone out there with this computer is discovering this flaw! Do a SEARCH on NC10 Screen Blotches and get your heart broken.
I am just about to give up on these wonderful MINI computers and just buy another 15.5 laptop or possibly a MAC 13 inch in white? I surrender! Then I feel that weight in my lap, the heat, that cumbersome feeling of setting it here & there and moving it around compared to this feather I am typing on now, and I just don't know what to do. If these EYEBALLS on this screen would just stop staring back at me.....
:-(

Something I want to add as a BIG plus that nobody seems to mention. As you look down at this beautiful keyboard and wonder where to plug in whatever you have that you WANT to plug in, this netbook has EVERYTHING clearly MARKED on top of the case. What I mean is, there is a LOGO visable from the top of this keyboard so you never have to pick up the computer to "search" for the plug in spot. Just one of the amazing attention to detail items Samsung took the trouble to offer you in this unit. Every jack or port is CLEARLY marked with a nice symbal so you can easily plug in your mouse, headphones or what have you. Forgot to mention this very handy feature.

UPDATE! (see below)
FoE calls for Samsung "Nano Silver" washing machine recall in face of growing risk concerns

In the face of growing concerns about the toxicity risks that nano silver poses to environmental systems and human health, the US Environmental Protection Agency announced recently that it would move to introduce the world's first nanotechnology-specific regulations. The US EPA will now move to regulate products that contain nano silver and claim to act as "anti-bacterial" as pesticides, including Samsung's "Nano Silver" range of appliances (washing machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner and air conditioner).

Concerns have been mounting that nano silver poses unacceptable risks to beneficial bacteria in environmental systems and to human health. In 2005, a public backlash and concern from government regulators prompted the temporary withdrawal of Samsung's "Nano Silver" washing machine from sale in Sweden, although it is now back on the market. Friends of the Earth Germany has also called for the washing machine's withdrawal from the German market.

Samsung's "Nano Silver" washing machine will release nano silver directly into waste water systems. Nano silver is a powerful anti-bacterial. Samsung's own advertising claims that its nano silver products will "sterilise over 650 types of bacteria". There is a real risk that effluent containing nano silver could kill beneficial bacteria and disrupt ecosystem functioning.

In vitro scientific studies published in "Toxicological Sciences" and "Toxicology In Vitro" demonstrate that nano silver is also highly toxic to mammalian brain cells, stem cells and liver cells. It is completely unacceptable that products containing nano silver should have been allowed on to the market in the absence of regulations requiring safety testing.

In light of mounting evidence of nano silver's toxicity, and the US EPA's decision to regulate products such as Samsung's washing machine as a pesticide, Friends of the Earth Australia calls on Samsung to recall its "Nano Silver" range from sale in Australia until peer-reviewed studies can demonstrate its safety for the environment and human health.

Given the poorly understood toxicity risks of nanoparticles, the threat they pose to the health of workers, the public and environmental systems, and the absence of regulatory systems to manage these risks, Friends of the Earth Australia repeats our call for an immediate moratorium on the release of products containing nanoparticles. Products containing nanoparticles should not be on the market in the absence of regulations to protect the environment and the public from risk.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery

I have been waiting for what feels like FOREVER to purchase a netbook/UMPC. I was very excited when the Asus EEE pc came out and even moreso when I heard the MSI wind was coming to the market. But for some reason, they always lacked some sort of component that I found necessary to my needs.

After typing a bit on the Asus EEE 1000h pc, I was quite disappointed by the fact that the shift key was simply NOT in the right place. As a writer, as well as a touch typist, that is absolutely necessary to keep me sane and in the thought of what I'm attempting to write. If I was annoyed after only 5 minutes, I can't imagine what it'd be after three hours of writing.

This little netbook simply has it all - a perfect size screen... not too big but not too small. It has the correct keyboard configuration (therefore nothing is in an unusual place of some kind). And considering what it has inside, I just felt it was the right choice to make. Yes, SSD is great and all, but until the technology has a higher demand and drops a bit in price - it was just not worth it for me at the time to get something with an SSD.

As for the optical drive... most I do I can do through USB or through the linked network at my home (and I realize now that I rarely ever have used a cd rom drive for these reasons).

If you're looking for a portable and simple/easy machine to use for internet, documentation, school work, etc... this is it. Plain and simple.

I'm 100% satisfied right now with this product. Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.

Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Review
