Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery Decide Now

Like R. Hill, I upgraded my nc10 the day it arrived. Along with it, I ordered a 2GB SODIMM and a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive. I have been in computers and networking since the early 80s, so I have plenty of experience. Before computers, I was in electronics repair.

After unboxing and turning the nc10 on, I completed the Windows XP Home setup, giving the entire 160GB to the C: partition. I read that some reviewers had trouble with this, but I didn't have any. Before upgrading anything I wanted to be sure that everything was working out of the box.

After the initial setup, I was ready to upgrade. I used Apricorn's "DriveWire" to connect the 320GB drive to a USB port, and their EzGig II software to clone the original drive to the new drive, expanding the C: partition to 320GB in the process. After this, I disassembled the nc10 and installed the replacement hard drive and upgraded memory. The system booted without a hitch and I was able to upgrade XP Home to XP Pro in place.

This is an excellent buy for the price. I haven't run across anyhing that I haven't been able to run. It's not blazing fast, but a machine like this isn't supposed to be. I would recommend this to anyone needing a low cost, easy to carry laptop, but don't let your expectations exceed the hardware. If you're doing something like editing pictures (which I do occasionally), set the power mode for full performance. Yes, you'l use the battery faster, but your tasks will be done faster as well.Get more detail about Samsung NC10-11GP 10.2-Inch Pink Netbook - 6 Cell Battery.
